What is it?

Go Prompt is an online prompting application that delivers easy-to-use professional functionality not available in other online apps, while being more affordable than complicated high-end software.

It was designed and developed by people who run a prompting company. When we needed to upgrade our own software but were unable to find a suitable replacement, we made our own. With years of experience, we knew we could build an application that worked better for us. And because it does the things we need it to. It will also do the things you need it to.

The Go Prompt application is already being used on corporate and commercial shoots every day, so we know it meets the demands of high pressure, time sensitive shoot environments.

What does it do?

There are three key operations needed in a prompting application.

In the ‘Scripts’ tab you can import and save .txt files directly from your computer. You can see file information and estimated read time. You can sort, organise, and select scripts, then save any changes at the end of the shoot.

Script Editing

The ‘Editor’ tab allows you to edit text just like a word processor does, so you can prepare the script for prompting and edit it when filming starts. But it also has specific functions built in for making the text easier for a presenter to read, like breaking paragraphs into spaced sentences automatically.

The ‘Prompt’ tab is where the words are scrolled. We’ve taken elements from top-end software to enable a high level of control over scroll speed. Then combined that in a simple layout with quick access to other settings which allow you to adjust text size and position, set markers and edit text without even leaving the prompt tab.

How does it work?

Go Prompt is designed for use on a laptop as a controller for a second display. One display, the laptop screen is for the operator, the second display is for the presenter. The operator controls the speed of the words using the scroll slider. The presenter sees the same words, reflected from the second display, in front of a camera lens. For a simple, affordable but professional set-up using an iPad, all you need is Go Prompt running on a laptop, an iPad as a second display and an iPad teleprompter camera mounting system.

Go Prompt ‘Lite’ and ‘Premium’ are versions of the cross-platform web application with different levels of functionality. They use the Chrome browser, installed on Mac or Windows, work online and are available on monthly or yearly subscriptions.

Trial Version is free to access, only requiring membership registration, but has a restriction of 100 words in the prompt tab.

Go Prompt DKT Professional is downloaded and installed so doesn’t require internet access to work. Available for a one-off fee with single or multiple user licenses. Perfect for production companies and freelance operators. It has all functions fully enabled, dual display control via the Operating System and a bundled word .doc to plain .txt file convertor.
